ComfortDelGro To Invest Over S$200 Million in Transforming Singapore’s Driving Education

  • ComfortDelGro Driving Centre (CDC) has been awarded the tender for the site at Lorong Bistari, Choa Chu Kang, to develop a Next-Generation Driving Centre (NGDC).
  • The NGDC will deploy Intelligent Driving Circuit technologies to support objective, independent, and greater use of instructor-less training.
  • Landmark S$200 million investment over 30 years will modernise driving education in Singapore and enhance road safety.

Singapore, 11 March 2026 – ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited (SGX:C52) (“ComfortDelGro”, “the Group”) today announced a long-term investment of more than S$200 million over 30 years to modernise and expand driving education in Singapore, reaffirming the Group’s deep commitment to its home base. Through its subsidiary ComfortDelGro Driving Centre Pte Ltd (CDC), the Group intends to invest in new training facilities, advanced technologies, and operations to meet sustained demand for high-quality, school-based driver training, and to address the declining number of private driving instructors. The investment reflects ComfortDelGro’s confidence in Singapore’s long-term transport needs and reinforces its leadership in the public and private transport sectors.

The investment includes CDC’s tender award of the S$38 million site at Lorong Bistari, Choa Chu Kang, on a 30-year lease, to develop and operate the Next-Generation Driving Centre (NGDC). The new centre will replace Bukit Batok Driving Centre by 2030.

The NGDC will be CDC’s flagship multi-storey facility in western Singapore. It will sit on a 24,889 square metre site, with a gross floor area of about 72,500 square metres, and will significantly expand training capacity.

A key feature of the NGDC is the use of intelligent driving circuit technologies. These include sensors, cameras, and real-time monitoring and artificial intelligent driven assessments, which allow for more objective and independent training. The technology reduces reliance on instructors, improves productivity, and supports a shift towards the greater use of instructor-less and tester-less training environments.

The NGDC will deliver expanded capacity with nursery circuits, dedicated heavy vehicle training for Classes 4 and 5 licences, simulators, classrooms, and a road safety gallery. These enhancements are expected to improve training quality, strengthen operational efficiency, and double CDC’s market share in Singapore. This project will enhance CDC’s financial performance while also bolstering the Group’s Other Businesses segment.

Vincent Tan, CEO of ComfortDelGro Driving Centre, said: “We are honoured to be entrusted with this pivotal project. The Next-Generation Driving Centre will deliver high-quality, technology-enabled training that benefits learners through more efficient and objective assessments, while contributing to safer roads in Singapore.”

Cheng Siak Kian, Managing Director/Group CEO of ComfortDelGro, added: “Singapore is our home base and remains central to the Group. This is an important, long-term investment that will increase the number of drivers in our transportation ecosystem, and reflects our strong confidence in Singapore and our commitment to continually reinvest, innovate, and build capabilities here.”

Operations at the new centre will commence in phases, ensuring continuity and access for learners.
